Loy Krathong

On 26 October 2025, the Association of Thai Students in Singapore (ATSIS) held its annual Loy Krathong Festival, bringing together members and guests to celebrate the occasion as a community. The event opened with light refreshments, providing participants with a comfortable space to gather, chat, and ease into the evening.

Several activities were prepared, including a scooping game with small prizes, which added a light and enjoyable element to the programme. Live musical performances by student musicians also contributed to the atmosphere, providing attendees with something to enjoy throughout the evening.

Later on, participants collected their kratongs and proceeded to the water for the traditional release. Many took the opportunity to take photos, observe the kratongs as they moved across the surface and simply experience the tradition together. For students spending the festival away from home, this part of the evening carried a familiar meaning.

The Loy Krathong Festival served as a meaningful reminder of how traditions continue to bring people together, creating a sense of community and belonging even when we are far from home. It offered students and guests a chance to share an important cultural practice, connect with familiar experiences and learn more about one another. The festival remains a unique and memorable occasion for our members, and its significance continues well beyond the evening itself.

For those who were unable to join us this year, there will be many more opportunities ahead. The Loy Kratong Festival is a continuing part of ATSIS’s annual activities, and we look forward to welcoming future members to experience this celebration with us in the years to come.
