ATSIS BBQ FIESTA 2025

Welcome to ATSIS’s very own barbecue party—BBQ FIESTA! As the flames burnt away beneath the hot coals and amidst the sizzling sounds of skewered meat on the grill, laughter and shared memories filled the hot, humid September evening.

On the 19th of September, in the great year of 2025, the Association of Thai Students in Singapore joined hands with various individuals and alumni to hold a humble yet remarkable barbecue party at West Coast Park, occupying pit numbers 2 and 5. The event was kick-started at roughly around 5 PM, when the fire was first ignited through the collaborative efforts of the ATSIS members and alumni; the flames went ablaze, heating the very first pieces of coal piled up on one of the sturdy stone pits.

Colourful bands of paper could be seen on the wrists of registered guests upon their arrival, adding vibrancy to the surroundings. These wristbands not only distinguished one person from another, but also served as identity cards, revealing not only their age and name, but also their interests and alma mater, allowing the mingling process to occur naturally and the conversations to flow much more smoothly – almost as smooth as our free-flow drinks which are supplied to us generously, with a large variety to choose from.

When the fiesta reached its peak not long after, the fire of the second pit was lit, burning even brighter and hotter than the first. Crowds began to form around the new bonfire as a group of Thai students worked together tirelessly to light the fire and fan the flames to ensure that the grilling of the mouth-watering barbecue skewers could proceed without disruption.

As more skewers were placed onto the scorching-hot grill, the irresistible fragrance of charred meat permeated the sweltering Singapore air, drawing in even more visitors to ATSIS’s BBQ FIESTA, adding up to a total of almost 60 participants!

Soon, the sound of sizzling barbecue was completely drowned out by the shared giggles, the lively discussions, and the streams of never-ending conversations. The moment was truly magical: with laughter erupting from left and right and with smiles on every face. Some people were also seen chasing others around with their coal-stained hands, which added to the liveliness. This experience would surely be eternally preserved in our memories and would continue to shine brightly, even after the last flicker of flame had been put out as the party neared its end.

Additionally, ATSIS ensured that the pits were thoroughly cleaned, and the surroundings were cleared of any rubbish, fostering a culture of responsibility and a shared sense of awareness for the environment.

In the end, what we shared that evening was more than a feeling. It was the collective sense of community: the absolute reassurance — fostered by the trust and connections between all parties involved — that you can always rely on ATSIS. Through our various events and activities, we are determined to cultivate a support network for Thai students to aid them in both their academic and personal journeys in Singapore.
